Pick Up Your Crown: Declare Your Royalty Today
Good Afternoon Reader
Happy Galentine's Day. Sending you all hugs and hearts.
I had mapped out an entire newsletter about Kendrick Lamar, the brilliance of his business acumen and how is show centered Black women. But as I sat down to write, what downloaded to me was a reminder: pick up your crown, look in the mirror, and declare that you are royalty.
There is a constant psychological warfare being waged against us. And an entire army of trolls working tirelessly to diminish and erase our presence. It’s exhausting, dehydrating, and depleting. The strength it takes to fight this battle is unfathomable for most. And because we carry ourselves with such grace, people call us “strong.” But we are not strong; we are fragile yet powerful. There’s a big difference.
Strength implies that we are impenetrable, that we brush off adversity and keep moving forward. But the truth is, we internalize the aggressions, affecting us from the inside out. It shows up as imposter syndrome, silent depression, and emotional exhaustion.
Here’s the reality: like diamonds, we have flaws we hide behind our brilliance. We have insecurities we mask with success, and pain we sometimes release on the wrong people.
For far too long, we’ve buried our crowns within this so-called "American Dream" we hope will one day come true. As DEI initiatives are stripped away (and believe me, as necessary as they are, I say let them), let them. Let them tear apart the very foundation that sustains their business. Let them unravel the fabric that builds their culture. Let them crumble.
Why? Because the energy we spend seeking validation and recognition is depleting us. It's time for us to call our energy back, to activate our divine power, our soul power.
They know who we are. They are obsessed with us. They imitate us and appropriate us. We are the subject of nearly every conversation on social media, from a million different perspectives.
This is why I say: pick up your crown and declare that you are royalty. There is nothing more beautiful on this planet than you. From the coal buried deep within the earth to the flawed diamond created by pressure. Honor your magnificence and claim your divine power. Remember, you were divinely created in your mother's womb, long before the world ever met you.
No longer are we fighting to take up space. We are the space they wish they could occupy.
Happy Galentine’s Day, and know that you are loved.
Many Blessings,
Monica Wisdom
